Our Wedding at Poco Diablo Resort in Sedona, Arizona

by SmileysBunch 4 Comments

Thank you so much for being a part of the Smiley wedding!

Things you may notice:

Yes, I had two wedding dresses. I couldn't pick a favorite so we did a photo shoot with the white dress the day before the wedding, at the resort and at the Airport Mesa Vortex in Sedona. The red dress was for the day of the wedding.

Yes, it rained! We had a beautiful gazebo on the golf course, under a weeping willow tree… that was WHY we chose Poco Diablo Resort in the first place. But of course, Mother Nature had other plans – and that was okay. We got married in the “reception” area which was kind of like a deck – so we were still outside. I did have a mini meltdown because it wouldn't stop raining, but I got over it quickly.

We are goofy! This wasn't a formal wedding by any means. I told my friends to wear yoga pants if that's what made them happy. Everyone dressed up, with the exception of Jenelle changing out of her clothes as SOON as the wedding ceremony was over (which is why she's wearing a t-shirt and jacket in some pics). Oh, and another exception was Kevin's “best man” who was complete trash and I wish I could edit out of photos. But that's a story for another day!

Smiley’s Wedding Playlist

Sadie walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of “A Whole New World” (Aladdin song). Aladdin is our favorite Disney movie, Kevin's daughter's name is Jasmine, and Jenelle's name was almost Jasmine, too!

wedding playlist ideas

If you're looking for a wedding playlist that doesn't require much (if any) work, look on Pandora or Spotify. We got a lot of our song ideas from those lists (as well as Google). The type of music you play depends on how you see your reception. Ours was a super chill brunch, so many of our songs are country and oldies. However, Sadie is obsessed with Five Finger Death Punch and Hanson, and we both love Hamilton, so several songs got mixed in that don't really fit any “genre”. It's your wedding, so pick songs you love! If you want folks to get up and dance, choose more upbeat songs. If you want them to sit and relax, choose relaxing music.

Smiley's Wedding Playlist

We hit “shuffle” so these were all in random order. Our Queen of Honor isn't much of a 5FDP fan, so he skipped those songs (and almost got beat up by Sadie) LOL

Wedding Hair Ideas: Tiaras and Crowns

by SmileysBunch Leave a Comment

If you're like most brides, wedding hair and makeup are second in importance only to wedding photos! I hope these bridal hairstyles inspire you for your wedding day.

I highly recommend wearing a crown on your wedding day to truly feel like the Queen you are. I loved my crown and often resist the urge to wear it to dinner!

Tiaras and Crowns: Wedding Hair Ideas

You can wear a crown no matter how short or long your hair is. Wearing a tiara is another option: a tiara made of flowers is an option if you aren't into bling like I am. These bridal hairstyles are great for long or short hair, and everything in between.

Bridesmaids can also wear these hairstyles, with their beautiful $100 or less dresses.

wedding updo hair

A simple updo adorned with flowers gives this look a simple but elegant look.  This style is great to keep your hair off your neck and put into place for the entire day/night.  It is easy to keep in place as you walk down the aisle all the way to the end of the night dancing.

Long wavy locks give this simple look such a whimsy feel.  Adorned with a crown of flowers, this look is simple but absolutely gorgeous.  Use your curling wand to create these whispy beach waves and place a crown of flowers to complete this look.

classy wedding hair with crown

Every bride should feel like a queen on her special day.  This look has a very royal feel.  With your hair pulled up simply place a beautiful jeweled crown on top of your head to give this simply royal look.  Don't forget the matching earrings to pull it all together.

boho wedding hair

The best of both worlds.  This beautiful hairstyle pulls the hair away from your face but leaves the back full of romantic waves.  The style is held in place by a tiara of flowers.

If you're looking for a simple style but elegant style, this will fit the bill.  This look can be accomplished with a low bun and wispy curls adorning your face.  Secure the entire style with a jeweled veil.

wedding hair with flower crown

If your wedding has a boho theme, this style will fit perfectly.  With simple beach waves created with your curling wand, this style is unpolished and romantic.  Finish the style with a flower crown to match your decor.

wedding hair updo with crown

Are you looking for a hairstyle that is basic with a glitzy feel?  Hair is curled away from the face to show your spectacular makeup and natural glow.  The glitz is added when you place the jeweled tiara on top.

wedding crown updo

This style is simple and romantic all in one.  Hair is straight but slightly pulled away from your face.  A tiara makes this style go from simple to princess-like.

wedding hair updo

A styled up-do, this is a braid taken to the extreme.  Hair is pulled away from the face with the braid then tucked under to finish it off.  Adding flowers that match your wedding decor will tie this style together and add elegance.

Wedding Hair Inspiration Ideas with Crown

A traditional wedding often had a veil that covered the face.  This hairstyle takes that tradition along with a classic updo to create a stunning look.  Hair is away from the face and off the neck, tucked away with a veil on top.

Wedding Hair

Loose ringlet curls are used to create this stunning look.  Curls may be created with hot rollers to stay bouncy throughout the night.  Adorn your look with a stunning jeweled tiara or crown for the complete princess look.

Wedding Hair Looks

If you like the look of your hair down but want to keep your hair away from your face, this look will do the trick.  With your hair parted down the middle, take your sides and sweep them back in twists.  Secure in the back and cover the pins with your veil.  Hair can be curled with either a curling iron or wand.

Wedding Hair Inspiration Idea

This low set updo is elegant and regal.  By pulling the hair into the low style it stays out of the way but looks impressive.   Adding a beautiful tiara will take this look to an entirely different level.

Wedding Crown Ideas

If you are not wanting the traditional wedding look, this may be what you're looking for.  Have fun and make your hair match your decor or personality.  Fun colors paired with a non-traditional flower crown will make this look stand out.  Showcase who you are and your unique style.

Wedding Hair Inspiration Ideas

If you would like something sweet and romantic, this updo gives you both.  With hair away from your face, the wedding day glow will shine.  Adding the jeweled headband gives the simple look some added romanticism.

Wedding Hair With Tiaras and Crown

Who says you have to invest in an expensive headpiece for your hair.  This look is created by curling large chunks of hair and then holding in place with a crown of flowers that match your bouquet.  This will tie your entire look together and you can save a little money by using the extra flowers from your bouquet or arrangements.

Wedding Hair With Tiaras

Hairstyles can actually use your veil to add pizazz to the style.  This updo is created by twisting pieces of hair and securing in place.  A tiara is placed on the top and a veil added to the back for the dramatic effect.

Wedding Hair With Tiara

Like a classic Queen, this style speaks for itself.  A low bun is secured in place and topped with a full crown.  It demands attention without being over the top.  This works well for medium to long hairstyles but can easily be adapted for short hair.

Wedding Looks With Tiaras and Crowns

Maybe you want some glam but feel like a tiara or crown is a little too much.  This updo can be created by pulling the hair back and securing low, either a bun or a loose french braid that has been tucked under.  Secure the top with a small barrette that gives the appearance of a tiara actually having one.

Wedding Hair With Tiaras and Crowns

Fit for a princess, this updo takes a simple hairstyle and adds a bit of elegance with the tiara placed further back.  You can change it up a bit by adding a veil.  This style is simple and will showcase your beauty.
